Your family's joint term insurance ends at that point. Of course, remaining family members can continue their Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) Life coverage under Military Officers Association of America's (MOAA's) Leader Group Term Life Plan after the death of you or your spouse1. The remaining spouse1 just needs to notify the Plan Administrator of this change within 31 days.
Plus, this program includes an important feature that doubles your benefits if you and your spouse1 die within 31 days of each other. For example, if you choose the $100,000 plan, your beneficiary collects $200,000 ($100,000 for each life).

Rates shown are guaranteed until February 28, 2019. $1 a month insures all your eligible children. Children 15 days to under 6 months are eligible for $1,000 in coverage and children 6 months to 21 years (or 25 if enrolled full-time in an institution of higher learning) are eligible for $10,000 in coverage.
Age and Tobacco status are obtained based on oldest covered individual.
NON-TOBACCO RATES: If the older applicant is a non-tobacco user (non-tobacco user means a person who has not used tobacco/nicotine during the 12 months prior to the date he or she applied for coverage) and the difference between your ages is 5 years or less, refer to TABLE A for your monthly rate. If you're more than 5 years in age apart, refer to TABLE B.
TOBACCO RATES: If the older applicant is a tobacco user (tobacco user means a person who has used tobacco/nicotine during the 12 months prior to the date he or she applied for coverage) and the difference between your ages is 5 years or less, refer to TABLE C. If you're more than 5 years in age apart, refer to TABLE D.
For your convenience, you'll be billed quarterly. Premiums increase upon entry into a new 5-year age bracket. You cannot be singled out for a rate increase or a change in benefits and we will notify you in advance in writing of any changes. Note: Other benefit levels are available. How soon will our Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) "2-in-1" Plan begin?
Once your application is approved by the insurer, your insurance will start on the first of the month following the approval date of your application and the receipt of your first premium payment.
Are there other valuable benefits and services?
Yes. There are variety of benefits and services available under this plan.
- You can tap into your benefits before you die if you or your spouse1 becomes Terminally Ill. If your doctor certifies that you have less than twelve months to live, you can collect up to 50% of your life insurance benefits before you die. You may use this money however you want. Receipt of this benefit may be taxable. Please contact your tax advisor for more information.
- Voya Travel Assistance Service.2 What if you or your spouse1 is traveling (more than 100 miles from your home — even abroad) and you're in an accident, lose your passport or need other assistance? This program can provide pre-trip information and can help you deal with potential problems you may have while traveling at no additional cost to you. Think of it as your own personal travel assistance team on-call 24 hours a day, every day, from anywhere you might be that's away from home.
- Funeral Planning & Concierge Service.3 In the event of your death, your surviving spouse1 and children (under age 26) are eligible for funeral planning assistance from trained advisors at no additional cost to you.
Who will collect benefits? If you die first, your spouse1 will automatically collect all the benefits. If your spouse1 dies first, then you collect the benefits. If you wish to designate a different beneficiary, please contact the plan administrator.
As a valuable benefit to Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) members and their families, your family can immediately collect $2,500 to use as they see fit for plane tickets for family members, phone calls to relatives, or to help tie up loose ends. This valuable "advance benefit" will be sent to your family upon request, after notification of the death of you or your spouse1, as long as your insurance has been in force for at least two years. The remaining life insurance benefits will be paid as soon as the rest of the paperwork is completed.
Can our coverage be canceled if either of us gets sick?
No. Your coverage continues as long as:
- You remain a Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) Member.
- You pay your premiums when due.
- You and your spouse1 are living and are under age 70.
- The Group Policy remains in force.
- You remain married.
Your children's coverage will continue to age 21 (25 for full-time students) as long as you keep your Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) insurance in force.
Will we have to pay premiums if one of us becomes disabled?
No. If either you or your spouse1 becomes Totally Disabled, as defined in the certificate, while you're insured by the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) "2-in-1" Life Plan, your full Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) benefits continue, and you owe nothing during the period of Total Disability. This is as long as the Total Disability begins before your or your spouse's1 60th birthday, continues while you are covered under this group policy, and is caused by injury or disease which prevents you or your spouse1 from engaging in any occupation or profession for wage or profit and exists continuously for six months.
